Taco Comfort Solutions: A Buyer's Guide to the Product Line
Share
Taco Comfort Solutions shows up across more of this blog than any other brand, in the zone valve guide, the mixing valve guide, the air separator guide, the circuit setter post. What hasn't happened yet is a straight look at the brand as a whole. Taco's lineup runs from straightforward fixed-speed workhorses through smart ECM circulators to a couple of genuinely unusual products nobody else in this space really makes.
The 00e Series: Taco's Smart Circulator Line
The 00e series is Taco's answer to variable-speed, smart-controlled circulation, the same category MAGNA3 and ecocirc compete in. It spans a real range: the 0015e3 offers 3-speed adjustment in a familiar form factor, while the 0018e and 0034e step up into full ECM variable-speed operation with smartphone-enabled control. The 0034e is also available in a stainless steel body specifically for domestic water applications where the cast iron used in closed-loop heating isn't appropriate.
007e: The Smart Version of an Industry Standard
The original Taco 007 built its reputation as a simple, reliable fixed-speed workhorse. The 007e takes that same familiar footprint and swaps in ECM technology, letting a contractor upgrade a standard 007 installation to variable-speed efficiency without redesigning the connection points around it. It's a specific answer to a specific situation: replacing an aging fixed-speed 007 with something more efficient, in the same physical space.
1600 Series: Stepping Up to Three-Phase Commercial
For loads beyond what a residential or light-commercial circulator handles, the 1600 Series moves into three-phase, close-coupled inline pumps built for continuous duty in larger mechanical rooms. The 1610 and 1630 variants split by head capacity, with the 1630 built specifically for higher-resistance loops that need more push to maintain flow.
LoadMatch: A Different Way to Balance a System
Most of what's covered on this blog is components you assemble into a system someone else designs. LoadMatch is a self-balancing hydronic distribution approach built around Taco's patented Twin-Tee fittings, engineered to eliminate the need for individually balancing each zone the way a traditional system requires. It's a genuinely different design philosophy, not just a different pump, worth knowing about if you're specifying a new system rather than replacing a part in an existing one.
TacoGenie: On-Demand Hot Water Without the Wait
TacoGenie solves a specific, common complaint: the wait for hot water to reach a fixture. It's a small recirculation appliance that pulls the cooled water sitting in the hot water line back to the water heater on demand, right before you turn on the tap, instead of running a continuous recirculation loop around the clock. It's a different category from anything else on this list, closer to a point-of-use convenience appliance than a system component.
Zone Control and Air Management
Taco's Zone Sentry line covers the control side, motorized zone valves in potable-water-rated and multi-volt configurations, along with the Next Generation Zone Valve Controls for multi-zone panels. On the air-management side, the classic Air Scoop and the more advanced VorTech line both address the same problem, removing entrained air from a closed loop, at different price points and performance levels. We've covered both of these in more depth in our zone valve guide and air separator guide.
Bottom Line
Taco's catalog covers the same core territory as Grundfos and Bell & Gossett, fixed and variable-speed circulation, zone control, air management, but LoadMatch and TacoGenie are genuinely distinct products without a direct equivalent elsewhere in this space. Worth knowing about even outside a straightforward pump replacement decision.
