The classic Taco Air Scoop is an economical, service-free inline air separator engineered to remove entrained air from closed-loop hydronic heating and cooling lines. Utilizing an enlarged body reservoir paired with heavy internal casting contours, this component slows incoming fluid velocities to strip away noisy, corrosive micro-bubbles before they can cause pipe air-binding or accelerate pump wear.
Baffle Separation Mechanics & Layout Features:
- Velocity Reduction Trapping: Features a specialized internal baffle geometry that naturally strips lighter air pockets traveling along the horizontal top-half of fluid streams, redirecting them safely up into the venting throat.
- Dual Tank Expansion Integration: Standard-equipped with a 1/2" female NPT bottom tapping port to facilitate clean, inline hanging of a diaphragm expansion tank directly below the scoop, saving valuable mechanical wall real estate.
- One-Piece Cast Iron Durability: Engineered from a solid cast iron block that requires absolutely zero internal replacement components, field maintenance, or scheduled seasonal oversight.
System Requirements Note: Air scoops must be installed strictly horizontally to allow proper buoyant bubble routing, and require a 1/8" automatic Hy-Vent or air bleeder installed directly on the top tapping port for active air rejection.
